Milacron Announces Recipients of James A.D. Geier Leadership Award and Neil A. Armstrong Award
CINCINNATI, OHIO - May 26, 2005...Milacron Inc. (NYSE: MZ) has announced that C. Vernon Boothby is the inaugural recipient of its James A.D. Geier Leadership Award, and that Frederick G. Steil is the 2005 recipient of its Neil A. Armstrong Award. Boothby and Steil were honored at a special awards ceremony held Tuesday, May 24, at the Queen City Club in downtown Cincinnati.
The company's new James A.D. Geier Leadership Award recognizes career employees for their dedication, courage and innovation while honoring the spirit and legacy of Milacron's enduring leader. Jim Geier served the company with distinction for 50 years, including as its president, chairman and chief executive. The Neil A. Armstrong Award recognizes exceptional employees who demonstrate the pioneering spirit and professional achievement levels of the former astronaut. Neil Armstrong retired from Milacron's board of directors in 2000 after 20 years of esteemed service.
Milacron chairman, president and chief executive, Ronald D. Brown, congratulated Boothby and Steil for their many years of dedicated service to Milacron and for their many achievements over the course of their careers.
"Vern Boothby and Fred Steil are highly regarded in their respective metalworking and plastics industries," said Brown. "We are pleased that Vern is the very first recipient of our James A.D. Geier Leadership Award and that Fred is the 2005 recipient of our Neil A. Armstrong Award. Boothby joined Milacron in 1959, and in 1963 became a member of the company's Cincinnati-based metalworking consumable products business. He is credited for his long-term leadership role in the development of the company's metalworking fluids business.
Steil joined D-M-E Company, Milacron's mold technologies business in Madison Heights, Michigan, in 1985. He is responsible for having led the development of many new products that have contributed to the company's growth in hot runner systems for injection molding. Steil holds six U.S. patents relating to plastics injection molding.
