Milacron Inaugurates New Injection Molding Sales and Engineering Center in Shanghai with Open House July 19
New Application Engineering Center to Demonstrate Innovative Injection Molding Technology and Comprehensive Service and Support
July 11, 2005 - Milacron will celebrate the grand opening of its new Injection Molding Sales & Engineering Center in Shanghai with an open house on July 19, 2005, from 1400 to 2000 hrs. The center is located at No. 900 Jin Hai Road in Pu Dong, Shanghai.
The new 700-square-meter center will have the capability to perform a wide range of application engineering and mold trials with Milacron injection machines available for demonstration on site. Sales support, customer training, and aftermarket service and parts will also be offered at the center. Milacron China already is producing its Maxima line of hydraulic two-platen injection machines at its facility in the Jiangsu province, in sizes from 500 to 4000 metric tons.
"Our China-built Maxima machines have been well-received in China, with two 3000 ton units sold at Chinaplas in June, and the potential for another two to the same customer yet this year," says Dr. Karlheinz Bourdon, Milacron president of global plastics machinery. "This new state-of-the-art sales and engineering center now gives customers the opportunity to try out the cutting-edge technologies and application versatility of our China-built Maxima line, as well as our outstanding line of Ferromatik Milacron machines. Ferromatik Milacron machines have been available in China for many years and enjoy an excellent reputation here in Chinese manufacturing plants, producing a range of personal care products, medical components, and packaging. And now, we have a world-class center in China where molders can develop their processes and parts using our entire range of all-electric, full-hydraulic, and two-platen machines."
Among the injection molding machines that will be on display at the open house are:
- Maxima 650, a China-built, two-platen, hydraulic machine that offers exceptional mold capacity and application flexibility for the automotive industry with a Euromap 6 dry cycle time of 5 sec. A Maxima 650 will be exhibited at AP Plas, July 13-16.
- Maxima 1000, a larger version of the Maxima 650, also China-built, with a two-platen design. A Maxima 1000 delivered in April represented Milacron's first China-built injection molding press.
- Maxima 1600, a North American-built, 1600-metric ton machine with a two-platen design. Milacron China currently is assembling a Maxima 1600 machine, and will follow it immediately with two 3000-ton Maximas.
- Ferromatik Milacron K- TEC 110S-2F, a two-component, high-performance, high-speed machine that will mold mobile phone parts at the open house. The ultra-fast injection machine delivers a 6.2-sec cycle time with the 1+1 cavity mold using newly developed hydraulics for high-speed clamp movements.
- Ferromatik Milacron ELEKTRA evolution 155, a German-built, all-electric injection machine that is ideal for high-speed, high-precision molding in clean operations such as medical device manufacturing.
Bourdon emphasizes that the Maxima line is a global design, and all machines manufactured in China, Europe, India, and North America have identical specifications, allowing international manufacturers to standardize on the same machine on any continent. He adds that Milacron China is seeing strong demand from China's growing automotive market, which is in need of high-performance machines that deliver faster cycle times, improved dimensional accuracy and reduced costs.
"We see a special opportunity for large, world-class molding technology, particularly with international companies that are setting up or expanding manufacturing in China," says Bourdon. "This new application engineering and technology center will allow us to demonstrate precisely how our innovative injection molding machines can fulfill the unique needs of China-based manufacturers in automotive and other industries."
