UMA SH Parison Suction Technology Benefits
Uniloy Milacron UMA SH Series Accumulator Head with Suction Blow Molding Machine
The parison suction process does not generate flash or waste except for the small dome at each end of the part. Because the parison suction takes place in a closed mold there is a considerable saving of material and energy and less scrap to recycle. Ducts having more complex 3-D shapes will realize greater savings of material and energy.

The UMA SH Parison Suction design is capable of processing polyamide PA and can combine the suction process with sequential co-extrusion to generate rigid-flexible-rigid ducts. If interfaced to a robot that feeds post trimmer, the UMA SH blow molder becomes a completely automated production island for finished operations as: welding inserts, cutting, drilling, reaming, etc.
RPV - Radial Parison Variation

RPV Device
|
The Radial Parison Variation (RPV) option is particularly useful for 3-D ducts produced with parison suction.
Radial Parison Variation RPV enables the extrusion die to be decentralized in relation to the pin. As a result, a dynamic profile can be programmed to create major thickness on one side of the parison. The system does not modify the total passage area of the resin but simply moves the die asymmetrically.
Radial Parison Variation RPV is particularly useful for pieces with strong dissymmetry, corresponding to different stretch ratio during the blow molding phase that varies along the longitudinal axis of the piece.
The decentralization process occurs dynamically during the parison extrusion, according to fixed parameters of each produced piece by means of two hydraulic cylinders connected to the die, but can be used for various products by reprogramming the desired profile. There are many part designs with very complex shapes that can produced with this capability to variably control the parison wall thickness.
TCS - Thickness Compensation System

Wall Thickness without & with TCS

Wall Thickness without and with TCS
Thickness Compensation System (TCS) is innovative patented Uniloy Milacron system available on the UMA Accumulator Heads Series of Industrial Blowmolding Machinery. The system accommodates both cylindrical shaped products and rectangular section products. TCS can be activated or deactivated per part requirements and is not affected by raw material selection.
Advantages of TCS Thickness Compensation System
- TCS Thickness Compensation System provides a more uniform wall thickness in every part of the section, especially in the proximity of the mold parting line near the upper dome and the bottom surface which are typical critical areas.
- TCS Thickness Compensation System provides correct and constant profiling to avoid unwanted thickening of the part. This results in a significant saving of raw material. Continuous effective control of thickness enables consistent parts and an efficient production cycle.
- The cooling of a profiled container with TCS will be more homogeneous and quicker, increasing the output capacity of the blow molding machine. On the basis of tests carried out, the average saving of material is around 7% (depending on the type and dimension of the blow molded container), while average reduction of cycle time is approximately 15%.
Automotive Under-the-Hood Ducting
Uniloy Milacron UMA SH Series Accumulator Head with Suction Blow Molding Machine
Uniloy Milacron’s UMA SH Parison Suction Blowmolding Machinery is designed for production of under-the hood automotive ducts because the parison suction process produces 3-D technical ducts of any shape or length with uniform wall thickness. UMA SH Parison Suction Blowmolding Machinery can also produce dual durometer ducting for rigid-flexible-rigid requirements for various automotive engine applications.
