Energy saving, environment-friendly, fast and precise movements as well as perfect flash separation – the HYBRID version of the UMS 16H.S Continuous Extrusion Shuttle blow molding machine |
Uniloy Milacron Germany launched its first hybrid blow molding
machine - the UMS 16H.S at the K2007 exhibition. The single
station machine demonstrated the production of 10 liter UN approved
containers.
Energy saving means cost reduction and is one of the key criteria
for plastic processing companies who suffer from increasing costs.
Uniloy’s response to this demand is an energy savings
of around 22 % on the UMS 16H.S machine, which is achieved
by changing all movements – except the clamp – from
hydraulic to electrical drives.
Going electric also includes other benefits such as the machine
being suitable for clean room production and reducing the noise
level.
The UMS 16H.S can produce 10 liter UN approved containers
with a net weight of approximately 350 g. Due to fast machine movements,
optimized mold cooling as well as two post-cooling stations in
which the critical parts of the container (neck, shoulder, handle
and bottom) are cooled with water-cooled contour parts, an
output of approximately. 180 pcs/h is achieved.
The single cavity molds, as well as the contour parts, are provided
by the mold maker Friedrich H. Weischede, one of Uniloy’s
longstanding partners.
100% flash separation is guaranteed by the scrap removing system
developed in a co-operation between Weischede and Uniloy Milacron
Germany. The perfect flash separation prevents flash - especially
handle flash – from falling in or on containers. Consequently
contamination or damage of containers by flash is eliminated.
A combined leaktester and scale type APIS WV-01 is available. The
station is linked to the B+R machine controller. Should the weight
of the product vary, the base gap of the die will be adjusted automatically.
