Uniloy Delivers Their First Two R2000 Neck-To-Neck Blow Molding Systems |
Major dairy company in Russia reaping benefits of high productivity and reduced energy usage.
Tecumseh, Michigan, June 8, 2009…Uniloy Milacron North America continues its quest to meet consumer desires for sustainability, as well as producer requirements for high-output blow molding systems with efficient energy usage and streamlined operation in producing lightweight HDPE dairy bottles. Uniloy’s new neck-to-neck reciprocating screw blow molding systems nearly double output without increasing machine size, or requiring more complex shuttle or wheel machines.
The first two of these R2000 systems are in production at a major dairy company in Russia. Each machine produces a white 100ml HDPE liquid yogurt container at a finished weight of 6.5 grams at a rate of over 20,000 containers per hour.
UNA utilized its in-house container and mold design capabilities to provide the customer a new 100ml container that had the same performance characteristics as their existing container—which had a previous weight of 9 grams. The 30% reduction in raw materials reduces environmental impact, as well as speeding cycle time—without compromising quality. This turnkey, consultative approach is typical of Uniloy’s total systems thinking. “As North America’s only comprehensive single source solution provider, we’re able to use technology to optimize the client’s container design and provide customized machine systems to meet their business needs,” said Richard Smith, Uniloy's Commercial Director.
The Uniloy reciprocating screw design enables the fastest parison delivery with superior control. Primary advantages over wheel and shuttle blow molding machines include lower energy costs, shorter dry cycle time, lower melt temperature and higher clamp force (90 tons). A wide range of head, clamp and extruder selections allows Uniloy Milacron to configure R2000 machines to desired production volumes and container specifications.
Uniloy originated the lightweight, handled, plastic milk jug in 1963, and its reciprocating blow molding machine has since become the “industry standard,” with more than 3,800 in use worldwide. In addition, the company provides a full range of turnkey system services, including container design, mold development and manufacturing, prototyping and pre-production runs, and system commissioning – as well as an extensive parts and service network The company has facilities in Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Mexico, China and India, in addition to the U.S. For additional information, visit www.milacron.com/dairy
