Milacron introduces new MAXIMA MM950 WP Model |
Expanded machinery line offered to processors.
Milacron has expanded its MAXIMA hydraulic injection machinery line to include the new MM950 WP ton hydraulic machine. The new hydraulic MAXIMA MM950 WP ton machine is now available and is in response to customer requests for a USA built Maxima machine in this tonnage range. The new MM950 2-Platen machine counters higher prices, longer lead times and much higher logistics costs from many Euro and Asian competitors. “Service, service parts and injection end components costs for imported injection machinery has increased greatly over the past 18 months and for the processor fighting global competition, the MAXIMA product line offers far superior values for American processors.” stated Scott Merrill, VP and General Sales Manager.
Cincinnati Milacron MAXIMA Product Line
The MAXIMA hydraulic injection molding range is comprised of 310WP, 450, 550, 580WP, 725 and now the new 950WP. The new MAXIMA 950WP is a nice fit in the product line offering molders a big advantage as the new size fits a void in the tonnage range currently offered. “The size of the new 950WP ton machine allows processors to avoid going to larger sized machines, for instance 1100-1500 tons, when if fact all that may be needed is a machine larger than a 725 ton but in the range of 950 tons. The result is a tremendous cost savings as well as machine footprint economies”, states Brain Bish, Product Manager Hydraulic Injection Molding for Milacron.
New MAXIMA 950WP Reviewed by Customers
Customers who attended the Cincinnati Milacron Technical Open House, November 28 and 29, 2007 reviewed the first MM9950WP model under assembly. The new model was featured during the two-day event where several machines up to 4,400 ton MAXIMA MG machines where operating or under assembly. The event was held at the Batavia, Ohio facility and was attended by “new domestic” automotive suppliers, Tier 1 automotive suppliers, appliance, medical and housewares firms. The event featured technical presentations and a review of the recent K Show. The 2 day event also included focused demonstrations on new high speed all-electric Cincinnati Milacron Powerline stack mold machines, FANUC Roboshot packaging machines and new products from DME Mold Technologies.
MAXIMA Product Enhancements
While adding the new 950WP model to the MAXIMA line and eliminating the MM880 model, Milacron’s Global Engineering and Product Management team enhanced the design of the MM550, MM725, MM950WP models in response to multi-location international customer requesting the models to be identically produced or “cloned “to exacting specifications at Milacron’s operations in Germany, India and China.
The Maxima Series of hydraulic machines was introduced in 1998 with requirements for machinery flexibility as a critical factor of the design. The machines can be configured for various applications by combining a large offering of clamp and injection unit sizes. Several models offer wide platens as a standard feature while using 10% to 20% less floor space than comparable offshore models. Milacron’s MOSAIC control technology is standard on all models. Other features include reduced oil requirements, excellent energy efficiency and rapid clamp speed and tonnage build time. All MAXIMA machines are designed with a very low centerline as compared to many off-shore machines. The direct acting ram is located right behind the mold and reduces platen deflection by up to 50% over competitive models.
MAXIMA Enhancements
*The MAXIMA Series is available with an optional electric direct drive injection unit. Known in the industry as a “hybrid”, the MAXIMA system utilizes Baumüller direct drive technology to bring customers a compact, energy-efficient and very reliable injection system with no belts and pulleys. The system provides higher operating dynamics and less inertia in the system, which requires less braking energy. Additional benefits include parallel plasticizing capability (reduced cycle time and energy consumption), less noise, oil and reduced maintenance.
- Increased clamp stroke and daylight
- Improved Mold min/Max dimensions
- Wide Platen as standard
- Improved tie bar spacing
The improved clamp standard features allow our customers increased flexibility in designing molds and special applications for our standard machine.
Milacron’s new MAXIMA MM950 machine, as well as advances in services and SERVTEK injection end technology, come at a time when some off-shore machinery suppliers are reorganizing and impacting support to customers. Additionally, the impact of recent currency variances, higher energy costs and logistics issues have many processors evaluating reliable and tenured domestic sources. “Its time to take a very hard look at the value equation before buying used machinery or sourcing off-shore equipment.” states Merrill. The extensive local service network and Milacron’s SERVTEK operations are well established in the America’s. Milacron has been in business in the USA since 1884, building industrial machinery of many types and since 1967 manufacturing state of the art plastics processing equipment. Milacron today is a global leader with operations located around the world. “Milacron has made many changes over the years and we remain in this business with a firm commitment to our customers. The new MAXIMA MM950 WP machine is an example of our non-wavering commitment to plastics processors” states Merrill.
