High-Speed Clamping Unit
Maximum Speed and Superb Mold Protection
The three-platen clamping unit of the VITESSE allows for exceptionally fast production of thin-walled parts. Built to handle extremely heavy molds, the VITESSE is also able to provide optimal mold protection.
Fast, Faster, VITESSE Innovative hydraulics allow the VITESSE to run at extraordinary speeds, while the clamping unit design makes it suitable for cleanroom applications.
- The high-performance hydraulics of the VITESSE provide a rapid clamping force buildup and the high dynamic mold safety works without a locking device
- Synchronized mold opening and ejector movements allow for precise timing of part ejection – the high dynamic hydraulics ensure superior precision and repeatability
- The machine runs clean thanks to the linear bearings of the platens – since the tie bars function solely as strain rods, the mold installation area remains free of grease and oil
- Through an optimized hydraulic system and low friction design, exceptionally fast clamp movements are possible

The hybrid design of the injection unit provides considerable energy saving potential. Moreover, the VITESSE comes equipped with a high-performance barrier screw, ensuring rapid recovery of a quality melt.
Intelligent Energy Savings With its hybrid injection unit, the VITESSE offers energy savings of up to 30% compared to standard hydraulic injection molding machines. At the same time, the design of the VITESSE allows for optimized parallel functions and thus a considerable reduction of cycle times.
- The energy-saving servo-electric screw drive provides sufficient speed and torque for an efficient plasticizing process
- Solidly built linear bearing support system ensures reliable operation.
- The entire injection unit assembly swivels out giving easy access to the screw. The screw barrel can be replaced within minutes.
MOSAIC Controls
The intuitive and ergonomic MOSAIC control panel was developed to provide support for all operating tasks from the simplest production routines to the most complex machine setups and optimization. A Wizard guides the operator step-by-step through the setup and programming modes. The controls use advanced networking technologies for fast and reliable communications with the machine. All processes and functions are represented graphically in the user interface, simplifying optimization. MOSAIC offers:

GreenLine Package
Energy Optimized Hard- and Software Energy consumption is a concern in the production of thin-wall injection parts in multi-cavity molds – a typical application for the new VITESSE. That’s why VITESSE comes standard with the GreenLine package from Ferromatik Milacron: a comprehensive set of hardware and software solutions offering considerable energy saving potential for manufacturers.
- Intelligent hydraulic accumulator management: the hydraulic accumulator is filled only to the required level for each particular process. In addition, parallel movements are avoided where not needed, minimizing expensive energy peaks.
- The hydraulic pump comes equipped with a high efficiency motor, reducing energy usage.
- A software module for measuring the consumption of electric power provides quantification of energy usage by cycle, hour and shift and includes measurement intervals on the “energy” page of the control panel. Energy consumption reports divided into A, B or C classes are generated.
Dedicated Machine for High-Volume Cap and Closure Production
K-TEC hydraulic and hybrid injection molding machines
The design of the CAP-TEC builds on the foundations of the proven K-TEC Series. Since both the mold and screw stroke are shorter than with standard applications, the CAP-TEC features a significantly shorter base. By making use of parallel machine movements, the CAP-TEC is able to reduce non-productive time in each cycle. Due to the short stroke of the clamping unit, the hydraulic accumulator is used for clamp force build-up, greatly reducing energy consumption.
